Quick Tutorial

You can play many hours of music from this web site with a few buttons.

If Macromedia Flash is already installed, you can click on the button below and within a short time you will hear a great old fiddle tune written by Dewey Balfa, played by Jay Ungar & Molly Mason.

Click on this button and the song plays NOW. Any songs already playing or waiting to play are cleared from the player first. Use this button to play songs one at a time or to start listening while you select more music for your playlist.

Take note of that button with the green arrow because you will find it everywhere we have music to play on this web site.

Here is another important button. This one sends songs to a playlist, called My Playlist over on the right side of the screen. Go ahead and click on the button now.

Click on this button and the song is sent to My Playlist (right side of screen) but does NOT play. You use this button to add music to a playist. You can add music from all over the web site to your playlist at any time.

Once again take note of this button because you will see it everywhere we have music for you to play.

Click on this button to add the songs you put in your playist to the player. The song titles will appear in a list on the player. You can scroll through the player's list. Clicking on a song plays it and all the songs following it in the list.

The important difference between sending songs one at time to the player (small green up arrow) and sending them from the playlist (big green double arrow) is that songs from the playlist are ADDED to the player and do not stop whatever is now playing. Using the playlist means you can start music playing then keep on adding more music.

Remember too that songs sent from the playlist will not start to play if the player is empty. In that case, you can simply press the player's start button.

Try it for yourself. We have a lot of great music in the archive. Start making your own playlist now, click here to begin with the latest archived show.
